As the number of used electric vehicles grows, so does the need to consider how EV batteries are supported beyond their initial warranty period.
For Antonia Stephenson, Director of Operations at Cox Automotive EV Battery Solutions, lifecycle value will be a defining issue for the industry over the next five years.
In a new interview with Automotive Digital Transformation (ADT), Antonia discusses why the industry should be striving for an ecosystem that keeps batteries in circulation for as long as possible – and the role that accurate diagnostics, repairability and access to the right data can play in making that possible.
The interview also explores the role of the battery passport. Antonia explains that trusted lifecycle data can provide valuable insight into a battery’s history, helping to enhance physical assessment and diagnostics with additional context when evaluating battery condition and repairability.
These themes will continue at The Automotive Battery Conference in Munich on 21 October, where Antonia will join Russel Perry, Director of Engineering at EV Battery Solutions, to present “Building a Scalable Battery Strategy – A Repair First Mindset.” Their session will explore sustainability, consumer confidence, used EV residual values and the commercial and reputational implications of providing cost-effective post-warranty battery solutions.
